Book Review: My Princess Bible

My Princess Bible written by Andy Holmes and illustrated by Sergey Eliseev will charm many little girls.

Nineteen women of the Bible are featured with a short rhyming story. Each of these women models a positive character trait and concludes with an affirmation such as “A Princess asks for help when she needs it.”

Each story is followed with two sentences where the person reading will verbally fill in the child’s name “_____is God’s special princess.” “___asks for help when she needs it.”

This hardcover book is brightly illustrated with a sparkly, inviting cover. The illustrations of the women in the stories attempt to be multicultural but could have been more ethnic. Through-out the book there are little princesses playing dress-up and these illustrations are multicultural.

The final, twentieth story is drawn from Psalm 139 and includes hand motions to teach your daughter to make.

This bible is best suited for preschool to kindergarten aged girls who enjoy sparkles, pink and dressing up.

Disclosure: Tyndale Publishers provided me with a complimentary book in order to provide a review. Opinions expressed are my own.
