They were longing for a better country—a heavenly one.
For he has prepared a city for them.
Hebrews 11: 14-16
Father, an ancient echo of Eden whispers within my soul.
Like a siren’s call it pulls me with longing for another time and place.
As a sailor I set my course for that distant shore.
This present life is but a journey
That takes me across an ocean of stormy seas and glassy calm
With seasons of wildness and wonder.
Satan stirs the waves to buffet my brow
And my ship is blown off course.
That ancient echo of a promised land
Resets my compass and my heart is set once more
Towards that distant shore.
In another time and another place
You wait for me there.
