Book review: A Guy's Guide to Life

A Guy’s Guide to Life: How to become a man in 224 pages or less” by Jason Boyett covers topics such as friends, girls, fitness, puberty, hygiene, school and of course, sex.

Boyett writes in an easy to read style with loads of common sense and humor. His target audience is around 15 years of age. However I cannot see the average 15 year old picking this book up to read it.

The book appeared to make the assumption that a youth will be motivated to read the book and then motivated to carry out some of the suggestions. The book read more like a “pep” talk. But if a youth isn’t motivated to begin with then this book will never be read.

This book may have been better as a study for a youth group. The topics covered are shallow at times and barely skim the surface.
