A Carpenter's Son

Matthew 13

Today I sat with the multitude by the seashore.

Jesus was sitting on a boat anchored a little ways off-shore

His voice carried clear across the gently lapping waves.

A quiet hush stilled the crowd that had gathered as He began to speak.

This carpenter's son spoke of a kingdom.

One that is and is yet to come.

He asked if we understood all the things that He had spoken about.

I was silent when the many answered "yes, Lord."

His words I struggle to understand.

Their concepts shimmer with truth beyond my human comprehension.

But I find myself longing to be where He is.

I will follow this man they call Jesus.

A carpenter's son.
