Book Review

In this book, Dr. Hundley looks at the end-of-the-world predictions that appear to focus on the year 2012 when there may be the possibility of global devastation. He tackles ten basic arguments presented by ten different apocalyptic theories. These ten theories are each given their own chapter: The Mayan Factor; Solar Storms; CERN and the Large Haldron Collider; The Predictions of Nostradamus; The Reversal of North/South Magnetic Poles; Collision with Planet X; Earth’s Alignment with Galactic Planes; The Web Bot Project and Religious Predictions.

Dr. Hundley approached each chapter as scientifically as possible without slanting them to his Christian perspective. He attempted to let the facts speak for themselves before he gave his own conclusion at the end of each chapter as well as at the end of the book. Dr. Hundley pulled on a wide variety of research and resources according to the pages of “notes” and the cited works but I would have liked more of this reflected in each chapter. Each chapter left me with a feeling of disappointment in the scantiness of its content.

The front cover states that this is “A Christian guide to the question everyone’s asking” and Dr. Hundley finished the book by affirming the hope that we have as Christians in Christ. He also challenged the reader by asking if we would live differently if we knew the world would end in 2012.

I would rate this book 3 out of 5.
